Support of seaport commerce has been a part of Southern Power & Controls’ business model since the company’s inception. Our electricians operate within seaport facilities for both the port authority and its tenants. Perhaps the most critical aspect of seaport commerce is its uninterrupted movement of goods. Downtime at a seaport delays landside material deliveries and impacts maritime schedules. Understanding the cost of delays, the Tampa Port Authority has chosen Southern Power & Controls as their maintenance contractor for multiple three-year timeframes. In recent years Southern Power & Controls also performed the electrical installation of gantry cranes used for loading and extracting containers at the Port of Tampa. This addition streamlined logistics and vastly increased shipping volume. Our project teams install a variety of seaport applications such as bulk material-handling systems for the building industry and pipeline networks for transferring liquid natural gas and other fuels. When efficient systems increase volume, security must follow suit. To enhance security for seaport operations, Southern Power & Controls installs access control, surveillance, and radioactive-detection systems.
